Foreclosures are still on the rise! RealtyTrac recently reported that 243,353 households received a foreclosure filing in April, up 65% from the same month last year. In addition, a total of 80,926 families lost their homes to foreclosure in April, according to Hope Now, up 12% from 72,024 in March. That puts the country on pace to see more than a million families lose their homes this year.
If you are facing foreclosure, there is still time to take action! Granted, the environment looks bad – in Detroit alone, entire city blocks don foreclosure signs. There have been increased reports of people leaving the keys to brand new homes on their Realtor’s desks and then walking away, thinking this action will help them avoid foreclosure. Even some incidents of suicide have come up when homeowners are faced with losing their properties.
Even in extreme circumstances, these extreme actions are unnecessary! No matter how bad it looks, there is a solution that can be implemented. While you’re in the midst of the issue, it’s not easy to see how to build back from foreclosure, but it is possible. Take the actions necessary to fix the situation now, and then take the time to rebuild your financial life. Call a housing counselor, get The Foreclosure Workbook, ask a friend for assistance. Just take the step!
